Much like sketch movies of yore such as The Kentucky Fried Movie or The Groove Tube, the film is a series of Kerry Kenney as Joan, the host of "Painting with Joan" in Jack Henry Robbins' VHYes. VHYES succeeds by using comedy sketches the wrong way. And its throwback aesthetic mines nostalgia better than Stranger Things.
