While THE DEPARTED keeps the basic structure of the original, it is very much its own movie, so much so that the screenwriter, William. In "The Departed" the camera work and cutting feel faster, lower to the ground, more urgent than they have in his recent films. Martin Scorsese's The Departed isn't a movie. It's a lean, mean, well-oiled machine.
